It is still a weight class that we are having a lot of issues. Prata seems
to have won the job for now, but that can change any day depending upon how he wrestles.
Head-to-Head Prata has beaten Norstrem the last two times, I believe by 1 point each time. Norstrem also somehow qualified for NCAA's last year. Mostly due to a week field. He was a lot higher ranked recruit than Prata, and most consider him to have more potential. Though at this point he really hasn't developed as much as everyone would have hoped. I think that is why the coaches are still weighing him in at times, to help give him the drive to keep working in the room.
Hopefully he can realize his potential, and really turn it on. If it isn't him, then I honestly think Prata is just a place holder. Neither one of them should be able to qualify for NCAA's, unless they go a on run at ACC's and steal a spot. Which I don't think is in the cards.
Prata's recent results should be taken lightly due to the level of competition. Both wrestlers from the past weekend are towards the bottom of the barrel, and Prata didn't major either of them. Though I will say that he should have MD'd the guy from Leigh, he just chose to ride him out for over 4 minutes instead of cutting and taking him down.
At the end of the day, I think the hope is that Sam Latona (ranked #51 in this recruiting class by Flo) can step in next year and bring it to a new level. Though keep in mind that he will only be a Freshman, and most of his talent converts over to Freestyle. I am keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
